Callum is a passionate and engaging tutor who loves working with people of all ages, and he has a knack for helping others develop their understanding of various topics and bring forth a passion and love for learning. Callum has well over three years of experience with tutoring, although his passion for helping others to learn extends far beyond then. Initially, Callum began helping his friends at high school every now and then when they struggled with math. However, this quickly became a regular occurrence as he began to discover how much he loved teaching others, and seeing the results in his friends’ appreciation instilled a lifelong love of learning deep within him. Since graduating high school, Callum has consistently pursued opportunities to help others learn, including highly successful private tutoring with several students, some with learning disabilities, as well as working at tutoring centers. Callum has consistently seen great results with his students; his ability to simplify complex topics, explain them in multiple different understandable ways, and instill a sense of independence and confidence in his pupils puts his tutoring far above the rest. Callum frequently encourages his students to be introspective in their learning process; he often employs Socratic questioning to help his students become better learners in general, not just in a specific topic. Additionally, because of his extensive experience, Callum is both kind and patient with his students; unlike many teachers and tutors out there, he understands the struggles that students may face in their learning and empathizes with them. Overall, he aims to create a safe and understanding learning environment where his students feel safe to ask questions and be themselves.

Callum was born in Fort Worth, Texas, although he has lived in Calgary since he was three years old. In high school, Callum took AP math, calculus, physics, and chemistry, and he consistently performed at the top of his class. After graduating high school, Callum enrolled in the University of Calgary, and he is currently working towards a BSc with a double major in mathematics and computer science. In university, Callum also performs extremely well academically; he made the dean’s list in 2023, and he maintains an average GPA of 3.7.

Beyond teaching and academics, Callum enjoys playing video games, and skiing in the winter. He also likes to travel and has been to many different parts of the world. Additionally, Callum enjoys working on programming projects in his spare time, as well as video and photo editing.

As a high school graduate from West Island College in Calgary, I primarily specialize in tutoring math, physics, and chemistry of all levels including AP.
